The quick answer
Ask for the exact tyre specification and the total payable for the agreed visit, including any applicable tax and attendance or fitting charges. Fix My Tyre confirms the price before attendance is agreed; this article is not a price list.
Start with the tyre, not just its diameter
A 16-inch tyre is not a complete specification. Width, profile, load index, speed rating and vehicle-specific requirements determine what can be fitted. A quote for a different load rating or tyre type may not be a valid alternative, even if the first three size numbers match. Michelin explains why size and service ratings must be checked together.
Ask which tyre make and product the quote covers and whether an alternative would need your approval. Make your preference clear, but let compatibility come before a brand or budget choice.
Break the total into understandable parts
| Part of the quote | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Replacement tyre | What exact specification and product am I paying for? |
| Fitting | What fitting work is included in this total? |
| Attendance | Is there a separate callout or travel charge? |
| Valve / TPMS | Is the required valve work or sensor-related work included? |
| Balancing and disposal | Are these included where applicable, or charged separately? |
| Tax and payment | What is the final amount payable and how will payment be taken? |
These are questions, not a statement that every charge applies to our service. A useful quote spells out what is included and what is excluded instead of leaving you to infer it from a single headline number.
Explain circumstances that could change the job
Tell the provider about more than one damaged tyre, a loaded commercial vehicle, a restricted entrance, underground parking or a missing locking wheel nut key. These are not details to save until arrival.
If the vehicle must be recovered first, clarify who arranges and pays for that separately. A mobile replacement quote should not be mistaken for a recovery or traffic-management quotation. If the wheel itself is damaged, tyre replacement alone may not resolve the problem.
Ask what happens if the original plan changes
Ask whether the price is based on the details you have supplied and what would trigger a revised quote. Examples include a different tyre specification, additional wheel damage, access that prevents fitting or a different location after recovery.
Agree that any changed price or extra work will be discussed before proceeding. If a booking is cancelled or attendance cannot be completed, ask what terms apply before confirming; do not assume there are no charges or that another provider has the same policy.
Compare two quotes fairly
Write down the tyre product, size and ratings beside each total. Check the number of tyres and the same location and vehicle circumstances. Then compare the included work and any separate charges. A lower headline number may be useful, but only when you know what it buys.
Ask for an itemised confirmation or message you can refer back to. For a fleet enquiry, include the purchase order, billing contact and job reference where required so that the person approving the work has the same information as the driver.
A short message you can use
Please confirm the exact replacement tyre specification, what fitting and attendance work is included, the total payable including any applicable tax, and how changes to the agreed job would be authorised.
Send the vehicle, tyre details and location with that request. Fix My Tyre offers mobile replacement, not puncture repair or locking wheel nut removal. Your price is based on the tyre and attendance requirement confirmed for your vehicle.
Common questions
Why is there no fixed price in this guide?
The tyre specification and attendance circumstances have to be established. A general example price may not reflect the tyre or work your vehicle needs.
Is the cheapest compatible tyre always the best choice?
That depends on your vehicle and use. Ask about suitable products and their characteristics; do not reduce the required load or speed specification to meet a price.
Can I approve a quote from the transport office?
Tell us who has authority, how the driver can be reached and whether a purchase order is required. Keep the approval tied to the agreed scope.
